StS Habitat

The only ATEX Zone 1 habitat system available in the UK to have a fully automatic ignition shutdown system.

SAFEGUARDING YOUR ASSETS AND PERSONNEL
Protecting your personnel and safe-guarding your asset and when it comes to maintenance and repair where hot work will be required, there is no better solution than the StS habitat system. StS have spent the last 16 years researching and developing new systems and improving the StS habitat solution.

SAFEST SYSTEM
Our collaboration work with StatoilHydro has enabled StS to not only have one of safest habitat systems but also one that works with the client to ensure work is completed as quick as possible.

FLEXIBLE AND VERSATILE
The versatile nature of the StS habitat system means that is can be fitted into nearly any space. The flexible enclosure panels, made from a non-combustible FR rated material, are zipped together to form and shape or size the client requires. Panels can then be further sealed with Velcro and any penetrations to the enclosure can be sealed tight with our uniquely designed panels. Standard panel sizes are 1m x 1m and 2m x 2m, however we have created bespoke habitat solutions for many of our clients.

AUTOMATIC IGNITION SHUTDOWN SYSTEM
All habitats provided by StS are equipped with an automatic ignition shutdown system. This mechanism cuts off the power to all heat or spark generating equipment being used within the enclosure, therefore eliminating possible ignition sources. Once activated, the shutdown system will initiate a visual and audible alarm both inside and outside of the enclosure.

The shutdown is automatically triggered if one of the following occurs:

  • Gas detected
  • Loss of overpressure
  • High temperature
  • Rapid temperature increase
  • Equipment malfunction
  • Emergency stop
  • Change in status on the asset or installation

The fan on our habitat system will continue to operate during the shutdown, therefore maintaining a safe pressurised enclosure, unless gas is detected in the vicinity of the air entry point to the fan. Should this occur a damper is activated, preventing any contaminated gases entering the enclosure.

What makes our system so safe:

StS Habitat System Benefit
Automatic Ignition shutdown No spark potential
Variable Speed, Centrifugal fan Can pressurise huge enclosures with just one fan and very quiet
Self closing damper on the fan Eliminates the potential of explosive or harmful gases entering enclosure
ATEX zone 1 rating on the entire system by DNV

Can be used in the most hazardous of areas

Enclosure panels FR rated Will not burn with a flame
Full size entry/exit doors No trip hazard
